EXTREME Boat Detailing is a mobile boat detailing service that comes to the boat. We work at your private dock, your marina slip or your storage location across Lake Travis, Lake Austin and the greater Austin area, so you do not have to trailer anything anywhere. We come to the boat, wherever it sits
Mobile is not a marketing word for us, it is the whole service model. There is no shop to drop the boat off at and no trailering to arrange. We bring what the job needs to the boat and work in place, whether that is a slip at a marina, a private dock or a covered storage space.
Because we work on site, two details matter more than usual: we need access to the boat and the slip or dock, and we need to know whether water and power are available where the boat is kept. Neither is a dealbreaker, but knowing in advance lets us plan the visit properly instead of improvising when we arrive.
We serve Lake Travis, Lake Austin and the greater Austin, Texas boating community. The two lakes behave differently: Lake Travis fluctuates and is marina- and dry-storage-heavy, while Lake Austin holds a more constant level with mostly private docks and boathouses. That changes access, timing and what we need to bring, which is why each lake page covers what the work looks like there.

Hull Cleaning
Removes the waterline scum, hard water spotting and grime that builds up on a hull sitting in Central Texas lake water.
Gelcoat Restoration
Brings chalky, faded gelcoat back toward a deep, reflective finish through staged compounding and polishing.
Oxidation Removal
Cuts back the dull, powdery layer that forms when UV breaks down the surface of gelcoat.
Boat Interior Detailing
A full cleanup of the cockpit, helm, storage and non-skid surfaces so the boat is ready to use.
Upholstery Cleaning
Deep cleaning and conditioning for marine vinyl seating, bolsters and sun pads.
Metal Polishing
Polishing stainless and aluminum hardware, rails, cleats and towers back to a clean shine.
Boat Ceramic Coating
A durable coating applied over corrected gelcoat so the finish is easier to wash and better shielded from UV.
We do not offer fiberglass or gelcoat repair, mold remediation, vinyl repair, shrink wrap, bottom paint, canvas work, engine or mechanical service, boat storage or towing. If a boat needs that kind of work, we will say so rather than pretend it is a detailing problem.

Pontoon boats, wakeboard and wake boats, center console boats and yachts. The services are the same across all four, but the layout of the boat decides where the work goes.

- Wide, flat surfaces, aluminum tubes and fence panels, plus a large amount of vinyl seating exposed to full sun.
- Wakeboard and wake boats
- Heavy vinyl and tower hardware, constant water contact at the swim platform, and dark gelcoat colors that show oxidation early.

- Open layouts with plenty of stainless hardware, non-skid decking and helm surfaces that take direct sun all day.
- Yachts
- Larger hull surfaces, more freeboard to reach and detail, and finishes where staged correction matters.

Every boat is quoted individually. The final number depends on length, boat type, condition and access at the dock or slip, which is why we keep a plain explanation of what actually drives the cost of a boat detail instead of generic rates.

What Lake Travis and Lake Austin do to a finish
Hard water spotting
Central Texas water carries a lot of dissolved mineral. Spray dries on the hull and leaves the mineral behind as a ring, and repeated cycles bake those rings into something a rinse will not touch. Left long enough, the deposits etch into the gelcoat surface and need correction rather than cleaning.
Summer sun and UV load
Long, intense summers put a heavy UV load on both gelcoat and vinyl. Gelcoat responds by going chalky and flat, first on the sun-facing side and the transom. Vinyl dries, loses flexibility and starts to look grey in the high-exposure spots. Both are cumulative, which is why a boat that lived outside for a couple of seasons looks very different from one that did not.
Waterline buildup on boats kept in the water
A boat that stays in a slip develops a band of buildup right at the waterline. It starts as a film, then hardens and holds stain. The earlier it is addressed, the less aggressive the work has to be, which matters because gelcoat is a finite layer.

What does boat detailing include?
On our side it covers seven things: hull cleaning, gelcoat restoration, oxidation removal, interior detailing, upholstery cleaning, metal polishing and ceramic coating. A typical visit combines several of them — for example a hull clean plus interior and upholstery work, or oxidation removal followed by a ceramic coating. Which ones apply depends on how the boat is stored, how much sun it takes and how long it has been since the last detail.
How often should a boat be detailed?
It depends on use and storage rather than the calendar. A boat that stays in the water and gets used most weekends through a Central Texas summer needs washing and waterline attention far more often than a boat kept covered in dry storage. Correction work such as oxidation removal is not a routine task: it is done when the surface has degraded, then maintained with regular cleaning so it does not have to be repeated soon.
How long does a boat detail take?
The length of the visit follows the boat's size, the services chosen and the starting condition. A maintenance clean on a mid-size boat is a short visit; staged correction on faded gelcoat across a larger hull is substantially longer, and a ceramic coating adds preparation and cure time. We tell you the expected time for your boat when we send the quote, so you can plan slip or dock access around it.
Do you come to my dock or marina slip?
Yes. We are a mobile service and work on the boat where it already sits — a private dock, a marina slip or a dry-storage space across Lake Travis, Lake Austin and the greater Austin area. Nothing needs to be trailered to a shop. We do need access arranged: gate codes, marina entry or someone to let us in where that applies.
Do you need water and power on site?
It is worth confirming in advance. Some services go faster where water and power are available at the dock or slip, and some locations have neither. Neither is a dealbreaker, but knowing beforehand lets us plan the visit and bring what the job needs instead of improvising when we arrive. Note it in your quote request if you are unsure.
How do you price a detail?
Per boat. Boat type, approximate length, surface condition and access all change the amount of work involved, so there is no single figure that would be honest across a pontoon and a yacht. Send those details, along with photos if you have them, and you get a quote for that specific boat. Requesting one costs nothing.
